Southern Lakes Laundries began operations in May 2004 from a purpose-built Queenstown facility created specifically for the accommodation and hospitality sector. Independently owned, locally shareheld and directed, the business combines intimate regional knowledge with industrial-scale processing capability.
What began with five employees has grown to more than 60 team members and processing capacity exceeding 18 tonnes of linen per day at peak.

Industrial capability, hospitality discipline.
The Queenstown operation houses two Continuous Batch Washers, automated sorting and overhead rail systems, three High-Speed Double Roll Ironing Lines, plus full folding and drying capability. Expansion completed in 2020 added a new inward dirty-linen area and outward dispatch capacity.
In May 2021, Southern Lakes Laundries acquired Mackenzie Laundry in Twizel and rebranded the operation, extending service throughout the Mackenzie Basin.

Modern processing gives Southern Lakes Laundries the control to reduce water, energy and chemical use per kilogram of linen while maintaining professional wash performance.
5 LWater per kg in tunnel washing, compared with 20–30 L in smaller washer/extractors.
ReuseRinse-cycle water is recycled to reduce fresh-water demand and wastewater volume.
HeatHeat exchange transfers energy from outgoing wastewater to incoming fresh water.
PrecisionBatch-specific computer programs meter chemistry to minimise waste.
